? A 3-year-old autistic boy who was allegedly left on a school bus for six hours returned to P.S. 194 Friday morning.
The toddler?s parents, Jose Lopez and Marisol Tirado, are outraged. They say they were not notified of their son?s absence by school officials when the incident took place Thursday. A school staffer later found the child sitting in the back of the bus, which was parked outside.
Following the incident, school officials brought the toddler to Jacobi Medical Center, where doctors determined that the boy was fine. His parents, however, say their son is emotionally distraught and fearful of going back to school.
?I really don't want this to happen to other kids,? Tirado says.
The boy?s parents are expected to meet with school officials about the incident. Until then, they will be bringing him to school themselves.
The driver of the bus, Terry Tocker, of The Bronx, and the matron of the bus, Charlene Powell, of Brooklyn, have both been arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and endangering an incompetent person.
