Brad Lander, the former New York City comptroller and ally of Mayor Zohran Mamdani, has defeated U.S. Rep. Dan Goldman in their Democratic primary.

Lander, who had the endorsement of both Mamdani and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, beat the two-term incumbent on Tuesday. Goldman has represented New York’s lower Manhattan and Brooklyn brownstone district since first winning election in 2022.

Lander’s victory puts him in strong position in the heavily Democratic 10th District en route to the November general election. He’ll face Republican Jennifer Moore, who was unopposed Tuesday.

Lander was acquitted earlier this month on charges related to a protest inside a building housing an immigration court and has pledged to push back against President Donald Trump’s administration.
