As Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues, we are reminded of the importance of having a strong support system, so no one has to battle the disease alone.

Women gathered at Brookdale Hospital on Wednesday to receive 'survivor awards,' certifications that they have beaten cancer.

The day was also filled with pampering for the ladies, something they don't always get to feel during treatment.

At the event, a breast cancer survivor got the chance to pay in forward to her support community.

"Today was a skin care meditation," says Legend of Spa co-owner, Maureen Brody. "So not only are people getting pampered here today, but we are also teaching them how to incorporate meditation into their skincare... and really feel our best."

Survivors also gave some expert advice about staying in top of your health. As much as support helps, they warn women to make sure to never miss a mammogram, to eat healthy and stay active.
