Brick Convention draws LEGO fans to Freehold on Father’s Day weekend

Thousands of LEGO fans spent Father’s Day weekend in Freehold at the Brick Convention, a traveling event showcasing custom LEGO creations, collectibles and hands-on activities for builders of all ages.
The convention featured large-scale displays created by LEGO enthusiasts and master builders from across the country, ranging from historical scenes and spacecraft to artwork and detailed movie-inspired builds.
“Some people are surprised, like, wow, how does that work? How does it stand up?” said Jeremy Douma, the Brick Convention’s show manager. “I think it sparks a lot of creativity in the mind and helps inspire people if they want to start building.”
Unlike the LEGO sets found on store shelves, many of the displays were original creations built entirely from individual bricks.
Among the featured builders was New Jersey native Amado Pinlac, a master builder known in the LEGO community as “AC Pin.” Pinlac is world-renowned for his botanical designs and Star Wars scene creations.
“You can just imagine the amazement on people’s faces at the fact that what they’re seeing are not sets,” Pinlac said. “They’re actual creations.”
In addition to the displays, attendees had the opportunity to purchase LEGO sets, rare collectibles and vintage items from vendors throughout the convention floor.
