Storeowners in Brighton Beach are frustrated over new parking regulations that have cost them business.
The owners say the 'no standing' signs that were installed between Coney Island Avenue and Brighton 11th Street are deterring customers from visiting the area. The signs restrict parking between the hours of 7 and 10 a.m. and 4 and 7 p.m. Many drivers say they weren't notified about the new restrictions and were given $115 tickets.
Department of Transportation officials say the signs were installed to create an additional lane for traffic during rush hour. They say the move was made after the Brighton Beach Association asked the department to address traffic problems.
