The 31st annual Brighton Jubilee in Brighton Beach wasn't stopped by the rain Sunday.
Pat Singer, founder of the Brighton Beach Neighborhood Association, says the festival was originally created to bring life back into the community. It also celebrates Russian and European cultures. The festival brings hundreds of vendors to Brighton Beach each year and has revitalized the local economy. Business owners say they enjoy the economic benefits of the festival.
Sponsors of the event say it is also a good way to reach out to the community to offer much needed blood pressure and blood sugar screenings.
