An abandoned property in Brighton Beach that was filling up with trash, rodents and rodent droppings has been cleaned up by the city following multiple 311 requests.

Residents say it was a move that was long overdue.

"It is clean. I am happy with it now. I am hoping that it is staying clean every time," said area resident Veronic Kerigir.

She tells News 12 her main concern with the property was the rats it drew during the overnight hours, but says now it's on the community to keep the front clean.

"People would throw in it, so I'm happy now it has been cleaned," she said.

Residents who live in properties that neighbor the unit declined to go on camera, but told News12 that the back of the property is still in rough shape, with many of the same trash and rodent issues that the front once had.

They hope with an additional 311 complaints, the back of the property can also be addressed.
