Getting a COVID test was a little harder Wednesday as several CityMD sites across the city and the tri-state area closed despite the rush by many to go get tested.
People are exhausted by the pandemic, and health care workers are no exception to that. So CityMD says it made its staff as much of a priority as the health and well-being of New Yorkers. It said it was closing the doors of certain locations temporarily to preserve their staff and avoid future closures as the Omicron variant continues to surge through the city.
Three locations in the Bronx and three in Brooklyn closed. One is the site located on Fordham Road. Officials say with 150 locations, they are encouraging New Yorkers to go to another open CityMD nearby.
These closures come as lines at testing sites around the city continue to grow. Mayor Bill de Blasio added sites to help ease the pressure, and the federal government is also stepping in to add testing in the city.
There is no word yet on when operation will be back underway at any of these locations. CityMD says it will let people know when that will happen.
