A Bronx business owner is going to jail for not paying his employees the minimum wage.
Alex Moreno owned and operated the Getty car wash and gas station on Edward L. Grant Highway in Highbridge. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says that between 2007 and 2009, Moreno only paid workers $4.00 per hour when the minimum wage was $7.15.
Moreno will spend every weekend in jail for four months and serve three years probation. He must also pay $150,000 in restitution to the affected workers.
