The Bronx Community Pride Center has begun the process of shutting down for good following the arrest of its former executive director.
According to investigative records, Lisa Winters used more than $100,000 of the organization's money for personal expenses that included a trip to Africa, dog walking services and shopping. She is charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records.
Officials say the center has already stopped offering programs ahead of its final day on Saturday because it can no longer afford to operate. However, workers will remain at the Longwood location through July, making referrals for clients.
Winters' attorney says she cannot comment at this time.
