After Tropical Storm Eta tore its way through Central America last week, a Honduran family in the Bronx is struggling to raise enough funds to send supplies.
They say it will cost at least $10,000 to send back all the basic necessities to the families suffering.
Hundreds of people have died, and the family is temporarily storing all the food and clothing donations at their family-run restaurant in Mott Haven called Ruinas de Copan.
"My mother-in-law, I believe, is a pillar in the Honduran community. She has been here about 18 years or so. Everyone knows her, everyone gathers here. A lot of the Honduran people in the Bronx, this is where we gather, so it only made sense for us to try to make the relief here," says Jorge Navarrete.
They created a GoFundMe account to hopefully spread the word and raise enough money to help those who left everything back in their home country.
