Bronx lawmakers push for public input on new City Island Bridge

With construction expected to start on a new City Island Bridge in February 2013, residents and local lawmakers are pushing the Department of Transportation (DOT) to allow public comments on the project.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., Comptroller John Liu and Councilman Jimmy Vacca are advocating for the DOT to begin public hearings on the project.
Residents say that they have concerns about the bridge, including design and cost.
The bridge is expected to cost $150 million, with $50 million coming from federal funding.
