UPDATE May 20: The girl's mother tells News 12 that she has been found safe. Previous coverage below:
A Bronx mother is asking the public for help looking for
her 14-year-old daughter who has been missing since last week.
Alexa Olivera was seen last on May 12 at DeWitt Clinton High
School, where she is a freshman. Her mother, Zuleika Gonzales, says she dropped
her daughter off that morning but she never came back home.
“All I want is my daughter back,” said Gonzales. “Please
come back Alexa, I need you home.”
Police say she is around 4 feet, 2 inches
tall, weighs 80 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair. She
was reportedly last seen wearing a gray sweater, black pants, and blue Jordan
sneakers.
Signs hang in the nearby gas station, coffee shop, and
directly outside of the school.
Gonzales says the school told her surveillance video shows
her daughter leaving the building right after 2:30 p.m. on May 12 with two
other girls, but that Gonzales can’t see the surveillance or speak with
students.
Police ask that if you have any tips about her whereabouts
to please call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477).
