Health officials are urging Bronx residents to get vaccinated for the flu as fall is finally here, and one Bronx organization is launching a program to help.
Bronx Health REACH is launching the Bronx Flu Fighters campaign to encourage Bronx residents to get their flu vaccine.
According to Bronx Health REACH, they say the most vulnerable groups are pregnant women and people over 65 years old. They also say that vaccination rates reported over the last two years are low in Black and Latino communities.
“Less than half of Latinos and Blacks in the Bronx received the flu shot,” said Moria Byrne-Zaaloff, program coordinator for Bronx Health REACH. “In 2021, only 40.4% of children under 18 were vaccinated against the flu.”
