Borough President Vanessa Gibson and other community leaders gathered at Fellowship Covenant Church in Castle Hill on Monday to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The church was filled with members of the congregation watching a video of the late Dr. King's “I Have a Dream” speech.

"We are standing in the shadows of his work. We are living examples of Dr. King's dream. They may have killed the dreamer, but they did not kill the dream," said Gibson.

Gibson also highlighted how far the United States has come since King's time, as well as how far the nation still has to go.
