People in the Bronx are kicking off the holiday weekend by spending it at Orchard Beach.

Crowded parking lots and hundreds of people filled Orchard Beach to spend the Fourth of July outside in the gorgeous weather.

News 12 spoke with people like Vanessa Figueroa who says the best part of the day is spending it with loved ones.

"For me, the best part is spending it with my mom," said Figueroa.

For people enjoying any fireworks, lifeguards across the city will be off-duty at 6 p.m. and swimming will not be permitted.
