Tiffany Gomez has her own woodworking business, and she's looking to inspire other women to follow in her footsteps.
“I'm hoping that this really gives women a sense of empowerment and encouragement to not be afraid to work with their hands,” says Gomez, who takes wood from construction waste and repurposes it into custom pieces of furniture.
Gomez recently won $10,000 from the Bronx Economic Development Corporation. They held a small business competition called BX Factor, and Gomez came out on top.
She says she’s going to put the money toward starting an internship program this summer, so she can teach others how to create functional art from sustainable products.
