The Super Bowl champion was crowned just a few days ago, but the Soup-er Bowl was celebrated by students from Our Lady of Refuge on Thursday.

The students delivered canned foods to seniors at the Vincent DePaul Senior Center in Longwood. The eighth-grade class had everyone on board helping collect and sort canned foods for this massive donation.

“Everybody thinks about Thanksgiving food drives and Christmas food drives, but you may have noticed people have to eat all year round,” said Robert Billings, principal of Our Lady of Refuge. “We started working with a couple of local pantries in January and February and it just seemed like a natural fit.”

Students at the Catholic school competed in the Soup-er Bowl community service project to help those in needs, and the eighth graders took home the trophy by donating 527 cans. The entire student body at Our Lady of Refuge donated over 1,000 cans.
