A 19-year-old Bronx teen died shortly after falling from the roof of 65 193rd St. while trying to evade the victim of an egg-tossing prank.
David Diaz and a group of friends were allegedly tossing eggs Monday at passersby from the roof of the building when a victim of the prank reportedly climbed the building's six stories to confront the teens.
Witnesses say Diaz attempted to flee by jumping to another building, lost his balance and plunged six stories at about 1:30 a.m. He was taken to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, where he died.
Diaz's mother, Rosa Diaz, says her son was able to tell her that the incident was an accident and that nobody pushed him off the roof.
"He was not perfect, but he was not an evil guy," Rosa Diaz says.
