A health-themed celebration was held at St. Mary’s Park for Bronx Week 2023.

The event included health and dental screenings along with stations offering information on healthy eating, health care and insurance.

There was also a roller-skating space set up in the middle of the event site.

Both organizers and Bronx residents say the event is much needed in the community.

"So much information out here to help everybody,” said a resident. “You can bring information to your neighbors and people you live with."

"You have to reach people where they are. You have to meet them where they are in order for them to access this information,” said Borough President Vanessa Gibson. “A lot of this is about opportunity, and that comes with healthy living and healthy eating. Health is wealth and wealth is health."
