As Election Day approaches, one Bronx woman has a new way to help users figure out how to vote.
Nickay Piper’s new app is called ‘Know The Vote.’
“It’s really important for people to know and understand politics because as you can see right now, the political climate is an interesting one,” said Piper.
The 33-year-old’s company, Way Creative, built the app from scratch and launched it on Wednesday.
“We worked for two years so that you can understand politics in two minutes,” said Piper.
The app is completely free to download and if you do get it, the first thing that pops up is a 20-question quiz asking how you feel about various issues to help you figure out which political party you identify with most.
Then, you can navigate through information about politicians running in the current election and those already in office -- including their voting history, how to contact them and even podcast they have been featured on--all with no bias.
“We wanted a bipartisan app that does not have an opinion in it, that just gives you the facts,” said Piper.
Piper says she was inspired by the big voter turnout at her former polling place in Wakefield.
She says she voted for the first time in 2008.
“It is a full-circle moment happening right now. The enthusiasm is so motivating,” said Piper.
