Tenants at a Brownsville housing development say they feel free now that a tall fence is being taken down.
People living at the Plaza Residences say they were told for years by OMNI New York, which owns the property, that it was going to construct a large garden in the courtyard. The metal fences were left up for six months.
Councilman Charles Barron and some other tenants met today to celebrate the occasion.
OMNI New York tells News 12 The Bronx that it is in the process of building the garden and has added a new playground and community space to the plans for after-school programs and a summer camp.
