The Brooklyn Academy of Music collaborated with the Black Comics Collective Sunday to bring writers and artists together for the first-ever Black Comix Expo.
Families say it's wonderful to see comic books and posters featuring heroes and "sheroes" of color.
The Black Comics Collective says the comic writers they chose for the event are mostly from New York. Many stories feature superheroes of color who live in urban environments like Brooklyn.
BAM will also host screenings of black superhero films through Saturday, Feb. 17.
