His publicist said on Sunday that he is doing OK after he suffered bruising and bleeding on his eye.
NYPD detectives released images of a man who they say is connected to the assault.
The man was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, black pants, white sneakers and was carrying a backpack.
Police are asking anyone with information on the man's whereabouts to give them a call.
