One Brooklyn business owner and cancer survivor is helping other breast cancer patients and survivors look and feel beautiful.
Richina Lukes has spent her years not only battling breast cancer, but also working as a nurse practitioner during that time. She is now a business owner as well. She says her mission is to help other breast cancer patients and survivors feel their best and pamper themselves.
“I was fighting for my life and went to hell. Chemo radiation, surgery - I felt that I didn’t look good… it really beat me down,” said Lukes. “Your fight is not over after you beat cancer. You still need to fight to regain back your beauty, to regain back yourself.”
Lukes helped breast cancer survivor Tara Graves gain back her self-confidence by giving her a full spa day at her local business. Lukes says her experience dealing with breast cancer inspires her to help other survivors and patients build back their self-love and inner beauty.
“Once you finish that, you think you’re going to get back to your old self,” said Lukes. “When you don’t, you feel like you’re slow, down, and you don’t realize that’s the time you will need to rejuvenate.”
