The Brooklyn Cat Café opened in 2016 and has moved around Brooklyn in the years after, and now they’ll be receiving a grant to expand their space.
The café received $165,000 from the state, expanding upstairs in their current location. The new space will include what staff say is the first shelter room for cats with feline leukemia virus. The space will also serve as an area for adult cats that can become overstimulated by the visitors.
The goal is for the café to match the Companion Animal Capital Projects Fund Grant by August, and they hope the expansion will be up and running by Spring of 2024.
The Brooklyn Cat Café currently has around 200 cats up for adoption. Click here to see how you can adopt your next furry friend.
