Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson held a closed door meeting with members of the LGBT community regarding how to keep them safe in the wake of the Orlando attack.
Thompson says they also discussed how to keep guns off the streets.
The DA says a man began spouting anti-gay slurs and was arrested at a Bushwick bar on Monday night. That man allegedly also threatened to "do an Orlando-type shooting."
"We will investigate and take action when necessary," says Thompson. "We have a really strong hate crimes unit to protect all people."
Thompson says his office has been able to stop 500 guns from coming into Brooklyn over the last two years. He says a number of those guns were assault weapons.
The hotline number to report a hate crime is 718-250-4949.
