An education group in Brooklyn protested Monday in an effort to get more funding for after school programs.
Many students say they have nowhere to go after school and would like to have activities to keep them out of trouble. The Brooklyn-Queens for Education Collaborative finds Brooklyn students are among 80 percent of those in Region 4 who have no after school programs.
The group says the city has not increased after school funding in 10 years. Protesters add that it is not fair that some other city schools have quality after school programs, while Brooklyn students are left with nothing to do.
