A Brooklyn family is suing the city for $16 million after they say their eighth-grade son was blinded in one eye by school bullies.
According to police, 14-year-old Kardin Ulysse was beaten by peers as they allegedly shouted gay slurs inside the cafeteria of Roy Mann Junior High School earlier this month. The lawsuit claims the students were not properly supervised.
The Department of Education (DOE) says the matter was taken very seriously and that the two students involved were arrested and also face disciplinary action.
