The Brooklyn Health Equity Foundation unveiled a new building on Thursday that will be used to house medical doctors from One Brooklyn Health Interfaith Hospital.

The building is located at 515 Herkimer St. directly across from the hospital.

The foundation took on the project to help the hospital retain medical professionals. The hospital says keeping doctors has been a challenge due to the rising cost of living coupled with the health care provider shortage. They hope this will also help provide Brooklyn residents with top-of-the-line care.

Officials celebrated the opening on Thursday by showcasing the completed renovations as they held an event outside the house.

According to the foundation, the goal is to make it easier for medical professionals to access affordable housing in the community they serve. The building will house six medical professionals. The BHE will also be moving its offices to the ground floor.

"It makes me feel good that we can contribute to saving even one more life and giving people a better quality of life," said Howard K Williams, the chairman of the BHE Foundation.

Williams says they hope to be able to provide even more housing in the future.
