A Hasidic Jewish woman from Brooklyn earned a spot on the New York Supreme Court.

Rachel Freier told News 12 she received an email on Dec. 30 that said she was appointed as an acting New York state Supreme Court justice.

“I prayed a lot,” she said. “And they made a deal with God that, if I could get through law school without compromising my religious values and people that need help with the law, I will help.”

Freier, a mother of six, said she had a passion for practicing law, which led her to attending law school part-time, all while maintaining her religious and close-knit family values.

“I wanted to have a family,” she added. “I wanted to have children, and I want to cook every night for dinner. So, time is like money.”

Freier acknowledged she still proudly prays before Sabbath dinner and hopes to inspire woman and people of all religious beliefs to also have it all.
