In honor of National Black AIDS Awareness Day, the educational outreach program Brooklyn Lives is hosting a series of activities and free testing sites around Brooklyn.
Health department statistics show HIV is the leading cause of death for black men and women under the age of 65. The director of Brooklyn Lives stresses that regular testing and prevention is crucial.
The director says testing will be available Tuesday until 5 p.m. Educational materials on how to prevent the deadly disease will also be on hand. Free testing will be available at Borough Hall.
