Police charged 23-year-old Charlie Vasquez for shooting two NYPD police officers in the Bronx.
Vasquez, who is from Brooklyn, faces two counts of attempted murder, assault and criminal use of a firearm, among other charges.
Officers say the shooting took place on Wednesday around 8 p.m. near the intersection of East 187th Street and Beaumont Avenue in Belmont.
Police say they went up to Vasquez after they got a report for someone with a gun. Officers asked him to show his hands and that’s when Vasquez began firing.
Police say Officer Alejandra Jacobs returned fire as her partner, Officer Robert Holmes, and the suspect were in a struggle.
Jacobs was shot twice in her arm while Holmes was shot near his chest. They were both sent to St. Barnabas Hospital.
Police say Vasquez used a stolen gun from Georgia in connection with this shooting.
