A Brooklyn man faces multiple charges after leading state troopers on a high-speed chase on the Taconic State Parkway last week.
According to New York State Police, troopers stopped a 2014 Ford Taurus for traffic violations at approximately 9:30 p.m. near Pleasant Valley. When troopers approached the vehicle, the driver refused to comply with their commands to lower the windows and park the vehicle. The driver, identified as Aquino Walker, 30, then fled the scene.
Troopers pursued Walker, who crashed the vehicle into trees on the shoulder of the parkway. Walker then fled into nearby woods. He was apprehended on Route 44 after troopers successfully deployed a Taser during his third attempt to flee.
A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 42.7 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Walker was arraigned before Pleasant Valley Town Justice Fairley and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court again on August 15 at 5:30 p.m.
