A Brooklyn man is on a mission to close the racial wealth gap by providing free financial education to people of color.

Jude Bernard is the founder and executive director of the Brooklyn Bank – a nonprofit organization that's focused on financial literacy.

"From budgeting, to mortgages, to cryptocurrency," says Bernard. "All the things that built wealth in this country, that my parents didn't teach me and didn't teach in the schools."

Since setting up shop in an old bank in Bed-Stuy, the organization has grown with hundreds of people attending free weekly workshops and events.

Bernard, who says he wasn't always good at managing his own finances, has now made it his mission to help Black and brown people shift their mindset around money.

"I've made every mistake in the book, so I can speak credibly, and all the speakers that I bring in here they share their true experiences as well," says Bernard.
