The Brooklyn Museum has a message for its teenage visitors: Stay in school.
It was a big turnout at the event, as attendees sang and danced, tackling challenging themes in a fun and exciting way.
The underlying goal was to empower teens to respect themselves and their bodies by saying no to drugs and gun violence and to instead stay in the classroom.
Organizers say, citing a study from the Department of Education, that roughly half of teens in Brooklyn graduate from high school. Many drop out due to incarceration, drug use, gun violence or to have kids.
The annual event is always held the Friday before the New York Caribbean Day Carnival.
