Brooklyn residents and community members have a lot to say after Sunday’s shocking announcement that President Joe Biden won’t run for a second term.

Biden also endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place. Harris, already the first Black female vice president would have the chance to make even more history in November.

Among those reacting is Brooklyn native and former Oakland City Attorney John Russo, who reflected on his decades-long friendship with Harris.

Russo says New Yorkers are in for a surprise.

"And the reason is — the way I described it to myself back when I first sat down and got to know her, is she's California style wrapped around New York style grit,” says Russo.

Meanwhile, some Brooklyn residents expressed cautious optimism about the Harris’ chances.

"Not quite sure she will win, but a woman running for president — make it all about woman power,” said one Crown Heights resident.

"Women have got to stand strong and fight for women's rights,” said a Crown Heights woman. “We can't let out Donald Trump come to destroy this country and America."
