The Brooklyn Navy Yard will be building a new manufacturing center that will in turn create hundreds of new jobs in the borough.
Both Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Gov. Andrew Cuomo were on hand for the big announcement today. The center's first two tenants will be Crye Precision, a body armor manufacturer, and Macro Sea, an environmentally conscious design company. The project is expected to create 400 construction jobs and 300 permanent jobs.
The Navy Yard has invested $46 million into the project, which is expected to be finished late next year.
