September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness month and to kick off important events happening throughout the month, Brooklyn's Teal organization held its annual lighting ceremony.
The Parachute Jump at Luna Park was lit up teal on Friday, the color that symbolizes ovarian cancer.
About 200,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year worldwide.
The mission of Teal, which stands for Tell Every Amazing Lady, is to promote public awareness and education of the signs, symptoms and risk factors of ovarian cancer.
Teal also provides support to survivors and raises money for research in order to find a cure.
