More than a year ago, a costly fixture was stolen from a Bay Ridge park. Today, there?s still no replacement.
In February 2007, a $25,000 bronze troll was taken from the entrance of Leif Ericson Park after it had been restored, according to the McKinley Leif Ericson Parks Alliance.
?It?s a terrible thing for the kids because this is a park they utilize and this is a terrible thing for the community,? says Fran Vella Marone, president of the Dyker Heights Civic Association. ?We worked hard to get this renovated and to get this whole thing put into place and someone just comes along and takes it.?
Representatives of the parks alliance say that if the statue isn't returned, they'll try to replace it.
