A Brooklyn professor has created a program for tablets that would be able to password protect the entire device with just a swipe of one's hand.
Professor Nasir Memon, who teaches at the Polytechnic Institute of NYU, and his students are working on an app he calls IdenTouch. Memon says the app would be able to recognize the texture and movement of the user's hand, eliminating the need for retyping passwords on touchscreens.
"We're looking at capturing what is unique about a person and using that to authenticate the person," says Memon.
The device is designed for tablets and will also work on smart phones. Memon asys he's already received three calls about licensing the app.
