Brooklyn rapper Fetty Luciano returned home Friday to speak to high schoolers at Brownsville Academy about an important lesson in gang awareness.
The Def Jam recording artist says he wants students in the community where he grew up to make choices to stay away from gun violence. He spoke to students about his challenging upbringing to show them that the sky is the limit.
The event was part of the Elite Learners Inc. Gun Violence Initiative.
Luciano performed a few songs and was presented with a citation by Assemblywoman Latrice Walker's office to show appreciation for the work he is doing.
"Where I'm from, it's a lot of gang violence, and I try not to paint a picture or a message to the kids to drop out or to follow a path that they don't need," says Luciano.
