Brooklyn residents are expressing concern for loved ones overseas after a volcanic eruption was reported on the small island of St. Vincent Friday.
Jamane Weekes says he has family on the island. He tells News 12 he is worried that people there will be left with nothing as the island is already under-resourced.
The eruption comes just four days from the anniversary of the last eruption 42 years ago.
Residents cleared away boxes and are donating items to the island. They say they will keep sending supplies to the island as long as people keep bringing items.
They say it could take at least four months to rebuild depending on the extent of the damage.
