Some Brooklyn residents learned how to cook healthier meals in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The demonstration was hosted in Bedford-Stuyvesant by Amida Care, a nonprofit community health plan organization which hosts monthly wellness events around the city.
Attendees learned to cook with healthy ingredients, like lentils and organic chicken broth.
The focus for Saturday’s lesson was learning to prepare meals with less sodium.
Each attendee received a goody bag of lentils to take home – a low-fat, high-protein food that organizers say should be a part of everyone’s diet.
