Family, friends and longtime customers said their last goodbyes Monday to a beloved Prospect Heights restaurant owner.
Gus Vlahavas, the longtime owner of Tom's Restaurant, was laid to rest following his death last week.
His restaurant was established in 1936, and regulars say the warm and welcoming atmosphere always reflected Vlahavas and his family, who helped him run it.
Loved ones are hoping to have the street near the restaurant renamed in his honor.
