A 42-year-old man from Brooklyn was sentenced to 1 ½ years for illegally trafficking baby eels from Virginia.

Seafood dealer Tommy Zhou had pleaded guilty in a Virginia court back in April.

Prosecutors charged that Zhou illegally sold more than $150,000 worth of eels.

The eels can only be legally harvested in Maine and South Carolina. Prosecutors said Zhou had used a Maine dealer license to cover his trafficking operation.
