They might be too young to remember John Lennon, but that didn't stop some Williamsburg students from joining in with the rest of the world to remember the former Beatle on what would have been his 74th birthday Thursday.
Students at Williamsburg Northside Elementary formed a human peace sign outside of their school. They later boarded the nonprofit John Lennon Educational Tour Bus to listen to Lennon's iconic "Imagine" song and to check out recording equipment. Organizers feel the mission of the bus is clear.
"To bring attention to the importance of thinking peace and imagining peace and making peace reality," said Brian Rothschild, who works with the tour bus. "So that's what I think is probably the legacy."
And the message appears to be sinking in with students. "Peace is important," said fourth-grader Max. "If there wasn't any peace, everything would be destroyed."
The bus has been in all five boroughs this academic year.
