How do Fort Hamilton High School students score tickets to the usually sold-out Broadway musical "Hamilton?" With some help from the producers and a generous grant.
More than 140 students from the school will see the show. "This is like a once-in-10-lifetimes opportunity," said student Hannah Almontaser.
Thousands of city students will see the musical on April 13. "It's not the typical Broadway show that you see," said student Hayet Chebbi.
Tickets normally cost hundreds of dollars, but "Hamilton" producers dropped the prices, and the Rockefeller Foundation provided a nearly $1.5 million grant, dropping the price of the tickets to $10 each for the students.
Students at Fort Hamilton High School learned about Alexander Hamilton and created performances as part of a project for history and English classes.
One group from the school will perform along with other city schools in front of the "Hamilton" cast.
