History will be made in Brooklyn this summer as the borough will welcome its first professional women’s soccer team.

The home stadium will be built at Maimonides Park in Coney Island and games are expected to kick off starting this August.

The team will play in the USL Super League Division 1, the highest level of women’s professional soccer in America. Max Mansfield, the CEO of Brooklyn Football Club, says they’re excited to bring top-tier athletes to NYC and bring excitement to the fans.

These are pathways, and stories will happen, and be told for talented, female players, both American and international to take their craft to the next level, and do it at the highest level. That’s what we’re most excited about,” said Mansfield.

The Brooklyn Football Club says a men’s professional team is also coming but won’t be here until 2025.
