A Dyker Heights resident
started her own business to create eco-friendly food products for children.
Beliana Krashi thought about being an entrepreneur in high school.
The yearlong Virtual Enterprises Program at Fort Hamilton High School helped
further her interest.
“We were running a business in a classroom,” Krashi says. “So we were all part
of different departments in the business.”
Her plastic free baby product business, Teal Meal, launched in November 2020
when many businesses were struggling.
Krashi says she always knew she wanted to have her own business so she just
kind of took a “leap of faith.”
Her business is now getting nationwide exposure.
The Brooklyn resident says the products are made of food grade silicon.
“I wanted take it a step further and make sure that down to the packaging and
the way that the product we brought to the consumers was actually sustainable
and eco-friendly and using absolutely zero plastics,” Krashi says.
Krashi is now trying to get her products into schools and Pre-K programs.
